Welcome to Wharf / Southwest
Neighborhood Spotlight: The Wharf / Southwest
This historic region of DC is now characterized by its “small-scale urban vitality.” The Southwest Waterfront region of DC sees new development almost every day. What attracts developers and buyers is the prime location of the region. It is only blocked from the National Mall yet still feels a bit more secluded and peaceful. You will find an incredibly diverse population of people in Southwest DC, some having lived here for forty years and others new to the area and ready to explore.
The newly constructed Wharf region of the Southwest DC Waterfront has brought the downtown to this Southwest region. New restaurants like Hank’s Oyster Bar, Kaliwa, Kirwan’s Irish Pub, and Lupo Marino create a lively nightlife. You can stop by Blue Bottle Coffee or District Doughnut for your afternoon pick me up, and Dolcezza Gelato or Milk Bar for a sweet treat after dinner. You can also stop to explore shops like Blush, Anchor, and Yoga Factory. Between music, nightlife, water activities, and shopping, this marina really has it all.
Public transit: The Waterfront-SEU Metro station (Green Line); The 70, 71, A9, A42, P1, P2, V8, V9 bus lines, and the Circulator.

The Wharf / Southwest DC offers an incredible selection of newly built apartment and condo buildings. Due to its up-and-coming status, the neighborhood is a great place to find condos, co-ops, and townhomes that may be a bit dated but feature a mid-century design that can be restored to its original luster.
“Having owned a home in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood for many years, I was naturally intrigued by the Wharf project and was quite interested in acquiring a new home at Vio, the premier residential building in the development. After initial attempts to contact the sales office were unsuccessful, I was referred to Lou Cardenas who secured a sales appointment and guided me through the highly competitive process. We recently closed on my new home and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of the vibrant atmosphere and convenient amenities that the Wharf offers. After my move, Lou and his team prepared and staged my original home for sale and within a short time, we received several offers. We are now under contract for well over the asking price. I am very pleased with these results and thrilled to call the Wharf my new home!” – Richard Baker
